5 Places To Find Love While Running Errands.

Love can happen in a Jiffy. And when it happens in a Jiffy Lube you might think it’s the least romantic place on earth. At least until you tell your grandchildren where and how you met your soulmate. If you are dating over 40 or dating over 50, here are five special places where sparks can fly and love can take hold. Be on your toes, because love can strike just about any place these days, especially in midlife when you least expect it.

1.  Jiffy Lube

Got 20 minutes to change your oil or rotate those tires? Don’t waste it burying yourself in a magazine or watching the drivel on the lounge TV set. I complimented a man on his stylish satchel at my last Jiffy Lube visit. I learned about his upcoming sailboat trip travels to the coasts. He was fascinating. Who haven’t you spoken to at the service station, salon, grocery store or Costco that you wished you had?

2.  A Hole in the Wall for  Literary Reading

My friend invited me to a hidden bar down a back alley to a literary reading. As I looked around the bar I commented that I had never seen such an eclectic crowd amassed in one setting. There were reporters, writers, poets, artists, teachers, and most importantly people with something to say and an intent to share freely. Conversation wasn’t lacking.

The takeaway:  Do something you wouldn’t normally do.

3.  The Drug Store

I was getting a little impatient standing in the CVS line this week. The cashier was chatting up the guy three persons ahead of me. She counted back his change in half time. Then it hit me. She was it full flirt mode.

I grinned as I watched average Joe slip her his number before leaving. I hope they share a pack of smokes and a lifetime together.

4.  The Library

If intelligence is a turn on for you, frequent the library nearest you with the best programs. In Kansas City, MO, the central library often conducts an entrepreneurial series where the movers and shakers migrate to share their successes with the backers in the city. It’s a great place to network for work, mentors, love, and friendship.

According to Professor Arthur Aron, who writes for How Things Work, the best conditions to meet someone and fall in love are at high-energy or intense events. It reminds me of when I was sent to see a Nascar race as a requirement to do public relations work for the company in that industry.

“When you meet someone under conditions that are highly arousing — a political demonstration, turbulence on a plane, a stimulating performance — a time when the body is stirred up and excited, we tend to experience attraction at a heightened level. This effect is well documented but the explanations for it are very controversial,” says Aron.

5.  The Dry Cleaners
