Coming in at #151, Oprah is helping bring some more curves and femininity to the face of wealth in this country. Women make up 12% of the top third of the list.
Two female family members from the Sam Walton empire land in the top 10. Candy queen Jacqueline Mars nabs the #16 spot. Oil and pipeline tycoons, Milane Frantz and Randa Williams tied for the #72 spot. And give a huge round of applause to self-made roofing giant Diane Hendrick coming in at #142.
At 65, Hendrick is a widow with 7 children and self-made billionaire in the roofing business.
Let me shine the spotlight on her as the co-founder of ABC Supply. She has a high school diploma, seven children, and a net worth of $2.9 billion.
